Anna L. Aagenes: new website, more updates coming soon!
Anna is a community organizer, L-G-B-T-Q activist, athlete, and an advocate for social justice. Anna is the Executive Director of the non-profit GO! Athletes which stands for (Generation Out) Athletes. GO! Athletes is the first national network of current and former student athletes dedicated to support and empower other L, G, B, T, and Q student athletes.
She also serves as the District Director for State Representative Brian Sims. Sims took office in December, 2012 to become Pennsylvania’s first openly gay elected state legislator. As the District Director, she is responsible for overseeing constituent services, fostering and building organizational relationships, and directing community outreach and engagement. Anna graduated from the Center for Progressive Leadership (CPL) Political Leaders Fellowship in September, 2012.
Before her job as the District Director, Anna worked for the Adolescent Initiative at the Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) serving adolescents living with HIV/AIDS. Since 2010, she has been a member of the CHOP’s “Connect to Protect” (C2P) Housing Committee to advocate on behalf of LGBTQ runaway and homeless youth in Philadelphia.
Anna graduated from the University of Pennsylvania as a member of Phi Beta Kappa and Magna Cum Laude. She was a Division I Track & Field and Cross Country athlete who became Team Captain, a two-time NCAA Regional qualifier, and a three-time school record holder. She currently resides in Center City, Philadelphia and continues to advocate on behalf of L, G, B, T, and Q youth.
